Friday and Saturday the team competed in the Section VI Track & Field State Qualifiers in Olean, NY. The team had a great weekend with Madison Roberts earning a 1st place finish in the 100m Hurdles and a trip to the NYSPHSAA Track & Field Championships (The State Meet) this weekend in Cicero, NY. Madison also set Iroquois school records in the 100m Hurdles 15.36 and Pole Vault 11ft. Other top performers include Amanda Hartman earned a 4th place patch in the High Jump. Also, Kayleigh Bystrak, Camille Wutz, Madison Roberts, and Lauren Jenney earned 3rd place in the 4X400 and broke a 15 year old Iroquois school record by running 4:09.21! The team had a great weekend with Madison Roberts earning a 4th place patch and setting a new Iroquois School Record in the 110 hurdles and also earning a 2nd place patch in Pole Vault. Iroquois 4-1 (Iroquois over Pioneer) Lake Shore 2-3 Cheektowaga 2-3 Amherst 2-3 (Amherst over Cheektowaga) Pioneer 0-5 Our team defeated Pioneer to finish our season 4-1. The team celebrated the last home meet for the seniors. Friday night the Varsity team participated in the Frontier Falcon Invitational. The Lady Chiefs finished 4th in team scorning. Top performers include Lauren Jenney who won the 400m and Madison Roberts who won the 100m hurdles. Also Madison Roberts, Kayleigh Bystrak, Lauren Jenney, and Camille Wutz earned 1st place in the 4x400 meter relay. Other notables include eighth grader Rachel Donner that earned 6th place in Discus and 8th place in Shot Put, Ronnie Kordrupel 4th in the 800, Devon Gallagher and Lauren Welling that finished 5th and 6th in the 3000m. Amanda Hartman and Sydney Slachetka finished 2nd and 3rd in the High Jump. and Kayleigh Bystrak 6th in the open 400m. All the Varsity team results can be viewed by clicking here. Saturday morning the JV team went to the Holland Tulip Festival Invitational. The JV team started the day with Kaytlin Nester running her best time in the 100m hurdles and earning a 2nd place ribbon. The Lady Chiefs continued to finish in the top 6 and earn ribbons including; Aussie Mariacher 400m, Julia Peinkofer 200m, Rachel Lafaso 4x400, Katie Blair 1500, Maura Sullivan 1500, Kateri Killelea 800m, Audrey Ryan 800m. Also, Asia Streety and Sydney Wutz both won ribbons in Long Jump and Triple Jump. Sarah Wittek won ribbons in Discus and Shot Put and reached personal bests in both events! Madison won the 100 & 400 meter hurdles and pole vault. While Lauren won the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. Other first place points were earned by Camille Wutz in the long jump & triple jump, Leah Krzemien in the discus, Rachel Donner in the Shot Put, Amanda Hartman in the high jump. Second place points were scored by: Kayleigh Bystrak, Sydney Slachetka, Ronnie Kordrupel, Emily Kotlarz and Wendy Neville. Some of the headlines include Sydney Wutz, Rachel Donner, Asis Streety, Sylvia Denecke, and Katie Blair who all earned 1st place ribbons in their events. Overall the JV team earned 16 ribbons! Some photos from the JV meetYesterday was a rainy day at the Dunkirk Invitational, the meet was called off due to bad weather about 1/2 way through. Madison Roberts earned 2nd in the 100HH, Sydney Slachetka 1st in the High Jump, and the 4X100 of Madison Roberts, Camille Wutz, Katherine Ackerman, Lauren Jenney earned 2nd place. Click here for the official results. The Girls Varsity Track team fought hard and competed strong in every event but just came up short against Starpoint 76-65. Nine girls combined to score for the Chiefs including very strong races from Ronnie Kordrupel, Lauren Jenney, and Kayleigh Bystrak. Madison Roberts scored in the 110 Hurdles, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, and 400m Hurdles. Eighth grader Rachel Donner had an outstanding day and scored her first varsity points in the Shot Put. Our next meet is the Dunkirk Invitational this Friday.
