Over the past several weeks the students have researched and learned about the process of making compost. I learned about the benefit of exposing students to nature and how it improves student academics. I used the project to deliver ELA by having the students research the different steps. For math, the students measured the changing temperature of the compost over time. The project included the science of how different materials need to be included and others not included to make good compost. For Social Studies, we learned about local compost farms that make and sell compost. It was a great project. We finished by displaying a tri-fold in the High School Library and used it to teach what we learned to a Middle School class. Comments are closed.
