Yesterday former student Lynne Krawczyk visited our classroom and gave a great speech. Lynne graduated from our school last year and wanted to come in and talk about the transitioning to the real world after high school and the challenges it poses for people with disabilities. It was a wonderful speech and very informative. It was great to see Lynne and everyone in the class loved seeing her!

Today Mrs. Mather received this message from Lynne:

Hi Mrs. Mather
Please tell Mr. Mitri, "Thank you so much for letting me be your guest speaker, I was so happy and honored to do the speech."

Guest Speaker Assemblyman David DiPietro

5/13/2016

As part of my Social Science lessons I have invited guest speakers into my classroom to introduce themselves to the students. It is a way to teach the students about the people that are around them and most important to them in their community. It is also a great way to bring people into the classroom and meet our students. We are now reaching out to the community and inviting people into the classroom. Today NYS Assemblyman David DiPietro was our guest and he spoke to the students about job, recreation and transportation opportunities in our area. My students gave Mr. DiPietro a tour of our Recycling Program. The students also showed Mr. DiPietro a tour of the Laundromat project we opened. Mr. DiPietro has lots of experience with the laundry business and was very impressed with everything the students are learning. It was a great experience for the students!
