Today former student from the class of 2016 came back to our classroom and brought pumpkins for our class to carve! Hannah had spent a lot of time with our class the past few years helping in art class. Everyone had a great time and we even baked the pumpkin seeds and ate them! In preparation for the LEADE Coffee House on November, 9th our friend of the classroom Catie Sullivan gave us a treat by practicing the songs she is planning to play. Catie also taught the class how to read cords on a guitar! It was a great experience for all of us to hear Catie play and sing! We have been including apples as a theme in several lessons this year. Including cooking lessons, ELA lessons, and Math lessons. Today we took a walking field trip to the farm behind the school. We went to the farm of 5th grade Iroquois student Nathan Blair. Nathan recently bought an apple press and was happy to demonstrate to our class how to use it. It was a great experience for our students and we even got to taste some fresh cider! Last week some of the students went shopping for ingredients to make easy delicious meals. We also bought apples to use in a fun health class lesson. Today we prepped for our meal by chopping onions and cooking and mashing potatoes. Ms. Klein is seen below with "Chef Alex" who is mashing those potatoes and a volunteer helper Cassidy with Jacob chopping onions. Hhhmmmm who is that guy photobombing in the background? I think he is waiting for some food! |
