Today we took a trip to the school bus garage. We received a tour from the Transportation Supervisor Eric Nagel. Mr. Nagel took the time to show our students the tools in the garage, where the fuel is stored, how a tire is changed, and inside of the office. We were also given a tour by a bus driver everyone at Iroquois is familiar with, Mr. Coatsworth. Mr. Coatsworth talked about bus safety and showed us how the bus radios work. It was a fun and educational trip for everyone. Today we conducted an experiment to see if we could grow crystals in our classroom. Each student received a Record Keeping Log to record what we observe over several days. I will update the blog next week to show what we observed. This year we are excited to be involved in three different elective classes. The classes are planned to support the IEP goals of the students. The students are having fun and enjoying working with the new teachers! With the assistance of Iroquois Student Government, we have been able to establish a recycling program here at the High School. The program will teach responsibility, sorting skills, money skills, plus much more. We are going to donate the money we collect to the building "Dress down Friday" charities. Student government purchased ten containers and worked with my class to make posters to get the word out. Today we cleaned the bins and cut out circles in the lids, and hung posters around the building. I am sorry it has taken so long to post to the blog! It has been a great start to this school year. I want to introduce Ms. Klein and Mrs. Moran to our classroom. They have been a wonderful addition.
