Today Abby brought in a cool science experiment that we played with. Then we wanted to learn more about how it worked and what experiments we could do with it. We found a fun way to distill the liquid inside. Watch and enjoy.
It was nice to get back to work after spring break. We began the week by ordering butterflies by mail that we are going to watch from egg to full grown butterflies. Keeping with the Springtime theme we read stories about and completed math activities about herb gardening. We started a project by planting four types of herbs. The students will take care of them and measure the growth of the plants. I also found an old Chia Homer that I received for a gift several years ago and decided this what a perfect time to try it out. Finally, we enjoyed a great time at the Game Day that Key Club and Diversity Club put on for us.
Key Club along with Diversity Club will be sponsoring a "Game/Fun Day" on Friday, April 25th in the HS Auditorium from 1:15-2:15pm.
In celebration of Autism month the students from Key Club and Diversity Club asked if they could coordinate a joint activity for students with special needs.
All of the students are invited to join for board games, Wii activities, refreshments, and good ole fashion fun!
We had a great week in school just before our Spring Break. We continue learning about money, budgeting, and grocery shopping. We read several chapters of The Jungle Book and learned about the setting and the geography of India. Several students made presentations to the class and are becoming great public speakers. We finished the week by having a special guest from the Junior Class, Gunnar Haberl, present a Magic Show. I have included some random pictures from the week. I hope everyone enjoys Spring Break!
Last week we read four chapters of The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. We also learned about the setting of the novel, the country of India. As we learned about India's geography and culture we learned about the Painted Elephant Parade. To make a tangible connection with what we learned we created our own Painted Elephants.
